InterOcean Advisors is pleased to announce that Bob Vanderhoff has joined the firm as a Senior Consultant. Bob will provide business development and advisory support related to mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and financial advisory opportunities in the Electrical Products and Distribution sectors.
Bob brings more than 35 years of experience to InterOcean. He has held a variety of leadership roles, ranging from Vice President of Sales & Marketing to President & CEO.
Currently, he is President of 35 Consulting, a firm he founded to provide companies with personalized and proven executive consulting. Bob helps companies achieve greater levels of performance through growth and cost calibration, resulting in enhanced enterprise value. The firm’s services include executive leadership as a temporary President & CEO, COO or Advisor covering the areas of sales and marketing, operations, finance, acquisition and strategy. 35 Consulting has advised companies involved in home improvement, distribution (both electrical and industrial), manufacturing, franchise businesses, cell tower builders, coffee roaster, nonprofit organizations and energy solutions industries.
Prior to his role at 35 Consulting, Bob held several leadership positions with companies in both the Distribution and Electrical Products sectors, including:
› Vice President of Sales and Marketing at DGI SUPPLY (a DoAll Company), where he directed the regional director of sales, director of product management, director of business intelligence, inside sales manager, and APS sales and operational teams. He was responsible for revenues and margins; created strategies for growth, marketing, pricing, APS, and national accounts; supervised supplier selection, development, strategy, and agreements; developed go-to-market and website strategies; implemented database and pricing models; produced inside sales strategy and development; and spearheaded sourcing and government business.
› President and CEO of ARGO International, a $70,000,000 organization, where he was chartered to build and position five business units: US electrical, mechanical, Canada, Europe and India/Far East for sustainable global growth. Before arriving at Argo International, business had not grown in 10 years and was marginally profitable. Bob drove both growth and profits, allowing the owner of the business to sell a majority interest in the company to a business needing an international platform.
› Vice President/ General Manager of Sears Home Improvement Products (SHIP) / Sears Carpet/ Upholstery Care (SCUC) where he was accountable for SHIP, a $1,000,000,000 direct marketing in-home selling business unit with revenues of $800,000,000/year. The unit provided complete turnkey installation and post-sale services with 57 district offices/warehouses, 4,500 sales and service associates, and 3,000 subcontractors nationwide. Oversaw $100,000,000 direct marketing annual budget and eight-member executive management team. He concurrently led SCUC, a franchise model division with $75,000,000 in annual revenue and a network of 90+ franchisees providing carpet cleaning, upholstery care, air duct cleaning, garage door installation/repair, and wood floor cleaning services.
› President (Northeast Division) of Industrial Distribution Group, Inc., a nationwide products and services company that provides outsourced maintenance, repair, operating and production (MROP) procurement, management, and application expertise through an array of value-added services. Supervised P&L and business unit; oversaw 400-plus associates and two distribution centers.
Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Messiah College.
