Mark Harvey Joins InterOcean Team

InterOcean Advisors is pleased to announce that Mark Harvey has joined the firm as a Managing Director. Mark will be responsible for business development and transaction execution leadership related to strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”), capital raising and financial advisory engagements.

Mark’s background includes senior roles in both investment banking and management consulting. His expertise includes M&A and capital raising transaction execution as well as strategy development and operations improvement. Through the combination of his M&A skills, strategy development experience, and operations knowledge, Mark has been able to offer clients a unique and seasoned perspective in supporting their advisory needs.

Prior to InterOcean, Mark spent 15 years as a senior management consultant at both large organizations, including Deloitte Consulting and smaller, boutique firms, such as The Keystone Group. Most recently, at Keystone he, provided strategy and operations, mergers and acquisitions, profit improvement and turnaround management advisory services to middle market manufacturing and distribution companies. Several noteworthy engagements include: (i) leading the auction of an agricultural manufacturing business as part of a section 363 sale under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code; (ii) developing and implementing an operating platform optimization strategy for a middle-market diversified manufacturing company; and (iii) leading the due diligence, synergy analysis and merger integration planning and execution of a European-based target into the operations of a U.S.-based specialty chemicals acquirer.

Prior to Keystone, Mark’s consulting experience involved leading teams in the consumer and industrial products manufacturing sectors on a variety of engagements involving: (i) M&A and post-merger integration; (ii) corporate and business unit strategy development and implementation; and (iii) financial and operational performance improvement. The underlying M&A transactions ranged from positive growth-oriented initiatives to the sale of distressed assets as part of turnaround situations.

Prior to his consulting career, Mark spent eight years in middle market investment banking at Price Waterhouse LLP (in both its Chicago, IL and London, UK offices), Vector Securities International, Inc. (a full service boutique investment bank for the life sciences industry) and the Chicago corporate finance office of Smith Barney. During this period, Mark advised on approximately 30 buy- and sell-side M&A transactions as well as numerous public and private debt and equity capital raises.

Mark holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from Bowdoin College.
